Yesterday I went to NorthPark Mall in Dallas to hang out with my new homie Nick, and since I’ve been looking for a new hobby to get myself into, he let me use his Nikon D7000 to see if photography might be something I might decide to get into in the future. I’m always looking for new hobbies, and since I’m not in school this semester, I felt I needed something new to challenge myself, so why not photography, I already like taking pictures.
One of the most interesting things about yesterday besides shooting pics, was hanging out with my homie Nick. I met him a few weeks ago, he’s a brother I regularly saw at open mics and poetry spots around the DFW area, and we became cool through facebook since we had a lot of mutual friends and seen each other at different events around Dallas. One thing that stands out about him is he’s openly gay, and I’ve never hung out with a gay guy before. Now before anyone starts wondering, I’m heterosexual, never had an interest in men, strictly into women, particularly black women, but to be honest Nick is one of the coolest people I’ve ever met, so there was no awkwardness being around him, and plus I’m very comfortable with myself to not let being around a gay guy bother me. It was funny though, I did think a few people wondered if we were together, but I don’t focus on peoples thoughts of me.
Now back to the pictures, this was my first time ever using a DSLR, so I didn’t really know what I was doing, so my pics look like crap, and my homie wanted me to just play around with the camera to figure it out, and at the same time he was showing me certain things. For those interested in knowing, I’m looking at purchasing a Nikon D3100, I’ve read it’s a great entry level camera, so hopefully I can get my hands on one of those soon.
I didn’t notice his hairnet until I put the pictures on my computer, AYE!
A young couple hanging out in the food court. I decided to try the black & white setting.
This guy saw me taking pictures of him, and got mad so he stood up and started mean mugging me, I thought he was going to yell at me.
These were some high school kids from Oakcliff, they were very photogenic, with a lot of energy, and I dug their hairstyles, so I had to get a pic of them.
Reppin’ their set.

Some of the beautiful sistas you’ll catch hanging out at NorthPark Mall. One observation I noticed is having a camera can make it easier to approach women, AYE ;)
A couple eating lunch at La Madeline.
Random, but I thought this girl was so beautiful, and I had to get a candid shot of her lol.
My homie Nick being goofy.
